Artist Statement
|
It inspires me to work with a medium that has played such a significant role to all living things on earth since the beginning of time. Aside from its art form, clay has provided historical information about lives preceding ours. It has sustained living things by providing such things as sources of food growth, vessels to carry and store, and shelter from the elements. We eventually return to its essence -- yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Returning to ceramic art after many years, I currently attend American River College. As my work has transitioned and progressed, my instructors and other artists provide me with a great source of inspiration and support. An Award of Excellance, and the Exely are among some of the distinguishing awards I’ve received for several of my sculptures in juried shows. Several of my pieces were selected and published in the 2007 and 2008 editions of The American River Review. As with many artists, my creations are generally of spiritual expression, and are often described as distinctive.
