Artist Statement

I have taken my love of photography and used many of my photographs as models to create watercolors, mixed media and collage paintings. I now digitally print my paintings on silk too. I then use these printed silks of my paintings to make pillows, valances, table runners, scarves and wall hangings…the ideas are limitless. Living in Southern California my major was Art in school and after starting a family I was always involved in something creative. I taught kids art after school for the  YWCA. I was a teacher’s aide and taught special art classes during the school year.  I worked making costumes for the spokes models on “Star Search” and numerous  local community college plays. I did fashion display for women’s and junior fashion areas for J.C. Penney when I lived in Fresno, CA. Since moving to Sacramento, I have been able to devote more time to painting and photography. I have found both to be interchangeable which has led me to all my current projects. I have been featured in The Guide For The Arts for winter 2005/2006 and in the Community Calendar in the Sacramento Bee April 2006. My work has been seen in the Auburn Old Town Gallery in Auburn.
